The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency
is speaking out on the viral news of a four-seater airplane that allegedly got
missing on Monday night after taking off from Kano airport, en-route to
Libreville, Gabon.
NAMA stated that the plane did not disappear in
Nigeria’s airspace.
An official who remained anonymous reveals that
the aircraft had been handed over to the Cameroonian authorities before the
incident occurred.
The official reveals to a Punch Newspapers
reporter that “the incident happened in Cameroonian airspace and it is not
something that has to do with us here in Nigeria.”
The News Agency of Nigeria was
first to report that the plane had disappeared, stating they got the
information from Cameroon aviation sources.
The plane is owned by Global Aviation,
and took off from Kano at 6 PM on Monday and scheduled to arrive at 11 PM,
after a stop over in Douala, Cameroon.
It didn’t make it to Douala. Search and rescue operations are said not to
yield positive results.
