Last week, I watched a movie – Godzilla. Amidst
the fighting and action, one particular line in the movie script struck me.
It’s a line where a doctor says “It is man’s pride to think that they control
nature and not the other way round, let them fight.” This line to me is so true
of life.
With all the talk of self motivation and belief
in one’s self, it seems we have forgotten that forces higher than we are, are
in charge of this world. An understanding of this makes us better in various
ways.
First of all, we learn to enjoy each moment and
let go because we know that we are not in total control. Now this is not to say
that we become lazy, rather we handle the things we can and move on.
It also makes us thankful for our blessings,
because we know that in addition to our hard work and effort, all we have is
really as a result of life’s benevolence.
Understanding that nature has laws keeps us
humble and makes us do the right things. Nature has its ways of paying us back;
workers will work diligently knowing it’s nature’s place to reward, and people
will treat each other with respect. No backbiting, snitching or tearing people
down because I know payback time is one of nature’s rules
It also comforts us when we see pain or sorrow
because we know that there is a God.
Nature’s laws have always been for those who are
humble enough to learn them, and use them to get the best out of every area of
life – career, relationships, etc. It is essential we learn what works and
practice them, rather than spend time fighting life’s rules.
I left the cinema with a quiet resolve to do the
best I can in every situation but also understand that I am not in total
control because there is a God that controls the world. An understanding of
this makes me patient, humble, thankful, kind and calm. My mother calls it the
ornament of a meek and quiet spirit.
Make it a choice to stop and smell the flowers,
ignore the crinkum crankums and have a great day.
